Traditional agriculture in India is deeply ingrained in cultural heritage and sustainability, with farmers employing age-old techniques passed down through generations. These methods often involve organic farming practices and natural resource management. The Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL), launched by the Government of India, aims to safeguard traditional knowledge across various domains, including agriculture, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Yoga. Using modern technology, TKDL compiles and digitizes ancient texts and manuscripts related to traditional agricultural practices, making them easily accessible to researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. This digital repository not only helps prevent bio-piracy but also protects the intellectual property rights of traditional communities by providing evidence of prior art to challenge illegitimate patents. Overall, TKDL serves as a crucial resource for preserving, promoting, and protecting traditional knowledge systems, ensuring their recognition and utilization for future generations.
