The Monk Who Transformed Uttar Pradesh | Shantanu Gupta | #SangamTalks

In the last five years, Uttar Pradesh (UP) has undergone a remarkable transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Several key initiatives and reforms have not only improved the quality of life for millions but have also reshaped the state’s image on various fronts. Over 2.6 crore people now have access to toilets, 1.5 crore have received electricity connections, and an equal number have benefitted from gas connections and housing. The construction of multiple expressways is set to enhance connectivity, with almost 2000 to 3000 kilometers expected to be completed within a year.

Addressing organized crime, Yogi Adityanath doubled the police strength from 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh personnel. Utilizing technology and social media, the UP Police has improved response times and addressed complaints, gaining recognition for its witty Twitter handle. The political landscape in UP has seen a significant shift. The BJP has gained a formidable presence, reaching almost 50% in vote share since 2014. Under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Ayodhya has seen remarkable development, becoming a planned town and attracting more tourists and devotees. While UP has seen a reduction in corruption at larger levels, challenges remain at the retail level. Yogi Adityanath’s strict anti-corruption measures may pose difficulties for career politicians, emphasizing the commitment to transparency and accountability.

Yogi Adityanath’s governance style, blending his role as a monk with administrative responsibilities, has left a lasting impact on Uttar Pradesh. From infrastructure development to political landscape changes, his leadership has steered the state towards progress and development.
