So, I went to Varanasi around this time last year. I saw his photo on Twitter. It was a big car.

When I reached there, there was no car. And I recognized him from Twitter. So, I recognized him.

So, I asked, where is Shailesh? Oh, you are also Shailesh? He was a little interesting. He made such a face that I came to meet him. I don't know, I can't recognize him.

Anyways, he stayed with me for two or three days. Because there were two or three people in the office. And some of the most memorable days of my life, to be honest.

We started the clean-up from Kedar Hut. Then we took Gaurikund there. It was in a very bad condition.

And in Shailesh's direction, we cleaned it completely. We started the clean-up. We filled water in it again.

His program was like this. It was like this before. It must have progressed further.

Every Saturday, we would go to one Ghat. And we would clean it completely. We would fill water from Ganga.

And we would clean the entire Ghat. There is defecation upstairs. We would clean everything.

My question to Shailesh was, what is the benefit of this? Because people will come again and do it again. How does this change anything? And he told me, attitudes are changing. When there is a clean-up, everyone wants to keep it clean.

Gradually, people's attitudes change. And he gave me quite a few examples. I allow him to talk about all of that.

I don't know how she reached Varanasi. It's just destiny. She started working with Sakar.

It was an NGO that Shailesh was running. Shailesh is an ex-policeman. And let me tell you one more incident about him.

I asked him, when Sakar started, how did you guys have fun? So he says, Prem Suthoda and I keep as much as we need to run the house. Everything else goes into funding Varanasi. Coming back to Prem Suthoda, She probably started working for Sakar.

Eventually, they both married. And I didn't know they were married when I landed up there. Suddenly he told me they were married.

So I said, oh son, I know. So Shailesh tries to remain in the background. And Prem Suthoda, to be honest, has become the face of the Swachh Bharat campaign.

She's met Naeem Modi. And she was invited to raise funds for Shailesh also. Naeem Modi ji.

I came to J&J 4-5 years ago. After that, I stopped eating out. It's been 6-7 years.

And when I was in Varanasi last year, So, Making India is a totally new definition. If you go to Golgappa, You'll be stopped and eaten. The whole Golgappa will be finished.

If you go to Papad, it'll be finished. We were a gang of about 15 people. And whatever we ate, We ate it all.

So, I'm not kidding. The Golgappa guy, He was covered in sweat. On that very day, He ate everything.

And started making Golgappas. He dipped the bananas and made them for me. And I was like, How do I do this? Oh my God.

He said, I'll eat it all. I said, we'll see what happens. And then I ate.

After that, I've been on backpacking trips throughout the country. And all my desire of eating out, eating with any kind of food, I broke it all. So, just in that time, I'll hand over and we'll start the video.

What I have gathered for a few years now in Varanasi. And I don't think my introduction, what Rahulji has given is just that's it. I am from Nagaland, came to Delhi, I worked here for some time.

At that time, I met a few of my friends from the NGO, to register the NGO. And that's how later I resigned from here, the work I was doing. And after that, I went to Bihar.

So it's been a few years, I have been working in Varanasi and Kashi has really blessed me. Gangaji has really blessed me. Shramdhan, Shramdhan, it's not a new thing, right? It has been there, I think it's as old as our Vedas.

Everyone knows about what is Shramdhan. But why we are here today, again, to speak about, to talk more about Shramdhan, is I think, unfortunately, we are living in a world, in a stage where we see a lot of negativity. Right? Whenever you get up in the morning, you print your newspaper and Usme bhi, wahan bhi wo hogaya, wahan bhi bhi worry, murder, all those negative things.

And TV channel chalao, usme bhi, all those wars, na? So, for us, I think we have literally stopped watching all the English channels, really. So, I think because of that negativity around us, we are trying to talk about the Shramdhan, to understand more about Shramdhan. The elders, the friends who are here, and everyone, even the youngsters, we are involved, na? Kisi na kisi hum log Shramdhan mein involved hai.

It's just that maybe some, you are doing it, maybe you are not realizing, or it's not been highlighted. Isliye, wo jo positive things hum log karte hai na, maybe that's not coming to the real media or to the real world. So, I'll share my experience, uske baad agar time hote hai, toh I think questions bhi hai, toh usme hum log discuss karenge.

Yes, I am from, I belong to a village. I am coming from a village, a small village in Agra land called Omma. My district is Mogongchong, which those who are, if you are aware of Himachor, you have to go from Himachor or from Kohima also, you can go to my village.

Now, those who are from village, they can connect to me. See, in villages, I'm not saying that in cities like Delhi, it's not happening, but in villages, if someone is building a house, or we have majang, I mean, the houses is made of mostly bamboos and wooden. So, there, if you wanted to make a house, haan, the whole community come together, the owner has to, just has to do, he has to collect, bring the materials, uske baad, kaana bekar hain, kuch rakho.

Then the whole village come together, they will build the house until it gets finished. Right, that's how the community, the helping hands, abhi bhi chalte hain. Even in fields, sowing time, weeding time, or even harvest time, it's a festival for the villagers.

Everyone comes together because I have a field to harvest. And the next door people also, the next door uncle or auntie is also having the same work. So, the whole community come together, they work, they enjoy, it's a festive.

Even for cleaning the rocks, and whatever surrounding, not cleaning the surroundings, everything they come together, they work, yeah, of course, especially during winters. Uder toh bahari hai, hum log paani ka toh itna dikkat hota hai. So, now it's three, four months, it has been raining the whole time.

Lekin abhi tab raining season katam hoga, paani tab dhura dhichay aa jata hai. Toh paani nahi hoga. So, during dry season also again, the whole village will come together, and then they will clean, they will try to clean all the trough, and then they will pour water.

Aisa sab kuch hota hai, and even in UP, everywhere, it's like that. Now, shamdhan is not only about cleaning our surroundings, it's nothing like that. Shamdhan is anything, anything we can do for shamdhan.

Like, for example, for past few years in Kashi and around Kashi, I have an amazing team, which we call it Mission Parijati. Now, along with my volunteers, we go to slums, villages, and we try to not talk to the underprivileged kids. Normally, aisa wala section mein jaake, hum log paan krti aise normally.

And we'll try to check whether they use nail cutters at home, or we'll try to see, you know, like, especially in ladies and girls' chai, hum log joo dekhta hai, hai na nahi hai, wo check karte hain, wo log nails kaise hai, wo pehle hum log check karte hain, baat karte karte hain. Haan, baat karte karte hain, wo check karte hain, uske paad, we'll just ask, like, do you use nail cutters? No. That section of society I'm talking about, no, they have never seen nail cutters.

Wo nail cutters use karke, why is it important to cut our nails once a week? Aisa paad karke, you know, like, and child mortality is too high in India, so it's very important to cut your nails. Aisa karke ek-ek nail cutters dekhta hain. And that is also a big thing for them.

And medical jo hai, agar choo hoga toh, the lady who is sleeping with a small baby at night, obviously she will be scratching and restlessly, no, toh at least ek raat ko teeth se soyega, toh subah uthke, at least wo bache ko toh nahi maarega, that kind of na, aisa choti-choti we try to do, hand washing, why it's very important, this kind of thing we share with the people. And really, I'm telling you, really, it helps a lot, it helps a lot, no. And, like, sometimes I do very, it's funny also, but on the platforms also if you see, trains may, you know, I mean, different types of section of people there.

Now, many a times I see old people carrying a luggage which is bigger than him, or which is much, much heavier than what he's supposed to carry. Toh aisa karke dekhta hain, toh, haan, utha deta hain, it's okay, I'll just carry that, and, no, wo stairs ke platform ke bahar jana hain, toh bahar drop kar deta hain, nahi toh train pe charna hain, toh train me jaake udhar pehta deta hain. So, all these small things matter, it's very small, and this thing doesn't cost you anything.

It's just that, hum log sab, we are human, so inhibitions hota hain, reluctant, no, we are reluctant, agar main wo kar dekha toh, log kya sochega, no, like, we always think like that. And I, every one of us, we have, we have positive spark in us, right? That spark, we should not lose it. Wahi, and, kyunki many a times hum log sochte hain na, agar main, toh accha karne ka kaam, toh timaag mein bhi aate hain, phir bhi, wo, nahi, agar wo, agar main aisa karega toh, log kya sochega, usme bohot par, wo that thing, that positive energy, that positive spark, which comes to our mind, it gets vanished.

So, we should not let it happen, because, I, nahi, I have experience, I mean, even if you feed a needy, needy people, needy one, like, can be a beggar, or anyone, anyone on the roadside, if you buy something, I mean, like, just a bread or, you know, aur kuch bhi de toh, nahi, that smile will also give you some, you know, that's a blessing, wo ashubhat hota hain. Us din, ek South Indian wala aa ke, unhone bulao, but aa ke sab ko de rahe hai. Babre, I mean, no, I just said, I wanted to have rice, us time mein, wo de, prasad de rahe hai. Babre, I ate it, I'm like, it's so fulfilling.

Aur, nahi aisa bohot kuch hai mere saath, it's happening, and I'm getting the, no, blessing. So, ya, but last year, we started a cleaning class, right, for Bhubaneshwar, it was very few pictures took. And, that time, we were only four, five.

And, four, five mein se, doi ladki, matlab, me and Darshika, we are, you know, she is a girl, and, now, three, there were three gentlemen with us, lekin, chalu toh magrega nahi hain lo, toh, Darshika and I, we said, at least, aap log chalu toh lagayega nahi, so, please, you can buy some chalu, and some brushes, and, bleaching powders leke ho, kyunki, woh hua, woh da, black, black, woh toh hoga. No, aisa karke, ham log mein start kiya, from the, from the second night onwards, we got lots and lots of volunteers.

So, what I am trying to say here is, you try to do something for the nation, for the society, the, the positive thing which is coming in your life, anything, anything, nothing, people will just join you. Many a times, I have seen, you know, I used to ask students, most of them are students, so I, I asked them, like, when they, when they join for the first time, why you, why you are doing, why did you join? Of course, we asked volunteers, come and join, come and join and clean, aisa ham log paat karte hain, phir bhi, why did, why did you say yes? That's the question, again, I will ask, you know, like, and they will say, like, kuch toh karna, no, kuch karne ke liye manda, lekin, aisa lag kabhi moka nahi mila. So, that's the, no, that's the attitude of our young generation.

So, we just have to pinch, karo, and people will just join you like that.
