Masterclass in Vedic Knowledge Systems | Parag Bhalerao

In this masterclass on Sangam Talks, independent researcher Parag Bhalerao — author of Sacred Scrolls — maps the complete architecture of the Vedic knowledge system for a general audience. He walks through the internal structure of the four Vedas (Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva), explaining how each is subdivided into Sanhita, Brahmana, Aranyaka, and Upanishad, and why this hierarchy matters for anyone serious about understanding Hindu scripture.

Bhalerao also traces how applied branches of Vedic knowledge — Ayurveda, Dhanur Veda, Gandharva Veda, and Sthapatya Veda — emerged as Upavedas, and how the six Vedangas served as the linguistic and scientific scaffolding for Vedic transmission.

The second half is equally compelling: he directly addresses the most misunderstood aspects of Vedic tradition — women and the Vedas, Pashubali, Ashwamedha Yajna, and Kanyadaan — cutting through centuries of misinterpretation with textual evidence and clear reasoning. A foundational watch for any seeker of authentic Hindu knowledge.
