The Siddha system of medicine contains a chemistry so advanced that it anticipated modern nanotechnology by thousands of years. Dr. R. Geetha Sudheer, a Siddha practitioner and expert in genetics and molecular biology, presents research showing that ancient Tamil alchemical preparations produce nanoparticles at temperatures far below what modern science considers possible.
She introduces the 18 Siddhas and the three foundational texts of Siddha scholar Bogar — Bogar 7000, Bogar Karppavidhi, and Bogar Sarakku Vaipu — which cover chemistry, astronomy, and even mechanical instruments. Exclusively Siddha contributions include Varmam therapy and Puneer-based salt alchemy, distinct from Ayurveda’s mercury-based tradition.
Her laboratory research on Ganda Chenduram and Ganda Parpam — iron-based Siddha preparations — confirms that the calcination process using specific plant extracts achieves physicochemical transformation at under 900°C, producing iron oxide nanoparticles coated with polysilicates or calcium silicates. The control experiment, using plain water, produced none of these transformations — validating the specific chemistry encoded in the ancient texts.
