In this talk, Capt. Smita examines the journey of CPI (ML) from 1967 till 2004 when it became CPI (Maoist) which is now a proscribed terrorist organization. The organization’s ultimate aim, they assert, is the establishment of a communist society. ‘The strategy of urban perspective’ is a document by the CPI (Maoist) which delineates its strategy– Encircling cities from the countryside and finally capturing them, carrying out a protracted people’s war. The speaker details the content, effects and implications of the document, interspersing it with numerous examples from the lives of the Maoists themselves, including their urban counterparts.
