The Asian Divergence 1950-1991: Why East Asia Surged Ahead of India | Pratmesh Godbole

The talk is a brief history of the trajectory of industrialization in East Asia, and its comparison with that of India. While there are many differences between India, China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, the choices for economic growth that East Asia made were roughly similar. On the other hand, India followed a different policy. The talks is a summary of these different approaches of East Asian countries and that of India from 1950- 1990, and how it led to a vast difference in their prosperity.
