
Shri R. Venkataramani completed 40 years of practice in Supreme Court, with practice in various branches of law prominently constitutional law, law of indirect taxes, human rights law, civil law, criminal law, consumer law,corporate law, environment law and law relating to services. He has represented several State Governments, Central Government, Universities, Public Sector Undertakings in their major litigations in Supreme Court and High Courts.
He has served as member Law Commission of India for two terms, served as Member in several Commissions and Committees and has reputed law publications to his credit. He has been a guest faculty in various premier law schools and resource person for the Bar Council of India and National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, which conducts continuing legal education programmes for Judges.
He spoke at the Workshop organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and International Commission of Jurists and associated with the International Working Group engaged in drafting an Instrument on the Right to Food following an International Conference held at BERLIN in May, 2002 and also involved in the Nepalese Constitution drafting and experience sharing exercise (2008). He has a keen interest in the promotion of liberty and dignity, the sacred spaces of human thought and conduct supporting activities in redrawing historical narratives, and co-existence of identities and faiths.
