Punjabi Literature Through the Prism of History | Dr. Rana Nayar

In this talk, he discusses the curious case of Punjab which seems to be the only culture in the world which has no ancient history. Historiography of Punjab raises some peculiar questions. This is perhaps the only society or culture which has no antiquity and its journey starts in the middle, in the medieval age. Why this attempt to shrug off antiquity? It is as though a deliberate attempt is being made to erase the Hindu past and start the story only where we delve into the origins of Sikhs or Sikhism. This is something we need to ponder over. The same logic is extended to the Hindu writers of Punjabi.
