Pardhi tribe in central and western India lived as expert hunters. They, notified by British as criminal tribes, were de-notified after independence. The talk is based on a book authored by the speaker which traces their transition from independent self-sufficient communities to now living as ecological refugees. Dr Arvind Kumar Jha, an IFS officer, retired as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Maharashtra. He is doctorate in Social Science and has also done law. Currently he provides service related to legal issues concerning forests and wildlife conservation.
