Ever since independence, we have allowed Indologists, who had no knowledge of Indian sciences, to create the framework which has been written into our text-books. As a result, the generations who have read from these textbooks full of half-truths, too, have no understanding of the subject. Citing from Kerala school’s discovery of calculus two centuries before Newton; Susruta’s the idea of germs, and mind-body research, over 2600 years ago; Vedic atma-vidya, Panini’s Sanskrit grammar, Pingala’s binary numbers, to Kaṇāda’s physics and ancient Indian astronomy, Dr. Kak discusses the fundamental role played by the Indian Shastric knowledge in modern science and modern science, and how, it will further play a major role in helping these fields resolve the various crises confronting them.
