The Clear and Present Danger: Being Hindu in Bangladesh | Deep Halder | Devdutta Maji | DU Lit. Fest

Discussing on the book, “Being Hindu in Bangladesh”; brings out an apparently ignored reality. Hindus in Bangladesh often feel the need to downplay their identity to avoid discrimination and hostility from fundamentalist groups. This marginalization has resulted in cultural suppression. The Bengali community in West Bengal seems unaware of this situation. While the current regime in Bangladesh offers hope for Hindus, it’s important to acknowledge the history of discrimination against minorities. Ignoring this history perpetuates ignorance and allows discrimination to continue.
One solution could be military protection for minority groups in Bangladesh. It is crucial that we address this clear and present danger that we face, and that the Bengalis in West Bengal speak up in support of their fellow Hindus.
