Initiated in 2000, the Saving Yamuna Project arose from a pivotal moment of recognizing the perilous state of cultural sites near the river Yamuna. Its objective, clear and urgent, targets the cessation of chemical pollution, particularly from industrial waste and untreated sewage water, and the enhancement of water management along the river. Spearheaded by collaborative efforts with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and local communities, the project strives for a selfless, apolitical endeavour, advocating for government action while refraining from contentious methods. With a focus on preserving cultural roots and tackling pollution, the project engages youth, promotes sustainable development, and advocates for the historical significance of Yamuna. Through community participation and continued advocacy, the project envisions a cleaner, culturally enriched Yamuna, ensuring its vitality for generations to come.
