The peaceful Buddhist country of Tibet was invaded by Communist China in 1949. On 10 March 1959, the Tibetan uprising began in Lhasa. The Chinese army brutally suppressed the revolt killing thousands, and forcing the Dalai Lama to escape to India. Since then, over 1/6th of Tibet’s population has been killed, over 6000 monasteries destroyed, and thousands raped and tortured by the Chinese.
