Anupa Lal has taught Creative Writing in the Aurobindo Ashram. An alumnus of the Delhi University, she has done story-telling sessions in schools across Delhi, and has written more than twenty books for children, including a retelling of the Ramayana, and translations of several short stories by the noted hindi writer Premchand.
